Regardless of the heat the area is Amazingly Beautiful. Tucson sits in a huge valley surrounded by Mountains. The Santa Catalinas to the North, the Rincons to the East, the Tucson Mountains to the West and the Santa Ritas to the far South. The Catalinas, Rincons, and Santa Ritas all approach or exceed 9000 feet above sea level and are large enough to create their own micro-weather environments.

Back in the early new millennium, 2000 – 2006, Chicago was tearing down the larger public housing complexes such as the infamous Cabrini Green and Robert Taylor structures. As a photographer I was already into Desolate CityScapes and post manufacturing structures that you could still find in the Chicago area, so the idea of documenting building demolition was pretty intriguing.

Before my Wife and I left Chicago to check out small rural town life I was an active photographer some 20 years. I worked on many projects during those years but I always felt attracted to the grim beauty of the post industrial world – the rust belt – that was slowly being cleaned up. Being from the Southwest it was a new and invigorating experience to see these decaying beasts .
